I was a Facebook user since 2005. My friend and co-founder at Recommendr was interviewing there and he told me about it. It’s been really interesting to watch the company and the network grow and evolve. I’ve enjoyed reconnecting with long-lost friends and acquaintances. However, as I really analyze the time that I spend on the site, I just can’t justify the effort. While it’s nice to keep up with what’s going on with friends, I miss the more direct connections of coffee, drinks, email, FaceTime, calls, and messaging. I find it more rewarding to hear firsthand accounts of what people are up to and what’s going on in their lives.

So alas, I not only deactivated my account, but I deleted it. I’ve been much more productive since doing so and enjoy my direct connections.
