A video baby monitor is all but standard these days. We purchased this unit: Motorola MBP36 Remote Wireless Video Baby Monitor with Infrared Night Vision and Zoom, 3.5 Inch.
We’re quite happy with the performance and features, but even with the second camera add on, we couldn’t possibly cover all the areas the baby would be: swing, bouncer, crib, play gym, bassinet, etc.
My solution was to mount one camera with a perfect view of the crib, and mount a second camera to a portable stand. This speaker stand from Atlantic Satellite worked perfectly with a few small screws and fasteners. It even allows for height adjustment so I can get exactly the view I want of my baby. Here are pictures of the finished product:
Please note that when the baby becomes more mobile, make sure that they can’t get hurt if they are able to pull on the stand.
Anytime! Glad I could help. Home Depot has plenty of hardware at a reasonable price. Just be sure to bring you camera with you to make sure it’s the right size.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I ordered the same speaker stands and now I just need to find a screw and nut to mount the camera. Thanks for posting this good idea!
